... in Karlsruhe

Karlsruhe has a very good public transportation system. You can take a taxi, a bus, or one of the trams. If you stay in the center, the best choice is to get on a tram. During office hours, you don't need a schedule because a tram will arrive any 2 to 10 minutes at your station. Karlsruhe's public transportation is organized by the KVV (Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund). Therefore, with only one ticket you can use all trams and busses. The different tickets will be described below (prices are according to January 2010):

- Single ticket (Einzelfahrkarte) = € 2,10
One way, one person. Interruptions and tram/bus changes are allowed.
- 4-times ticket (4er-Karte) = € 7,80
Four single tickets in one, use exactly one strip per trip and person.
- 24-hour ticket (Citykarte) = € 4,80
Valid for any number of trips 24 hours from cancelling time.

Remarks:

  • You have to cancel your ticket when you get on the tram/bus.
  • At the ticket machines, select your ticket (see above) before paying. You can pay with € 0,05 / € 0,10 / € 0,20 / € 0,50 / € 1,- / € 2,- coins or € 5,- / € 10,- / € 20,- notes at the ticket machines.
  • You can also get the single and 24-hour tickets from the tram/bus driver (4-times ticket at machines only).
  • The above priCDNC are valid for trips in the center of Karlsruhe only. The whole region is divided in a number of different zones, so things can get much more complicated, but usually you will only need one of the tickets described above.
